UFC 78 wasn't the hottest card we have seen, but had some good action none the less.
To start out the night was the borefest between Spencer Fisher and Frankie Edgar. The aformentioned Edgar turned this MMA bout into a wrestling match with some pitter patter ground and pound. Needless to say it went to the scorecards, and Edgar got the descion.
Ed Herman finished his opponet Joe Doerkson with a rear-naked choke in what was a rematch to which herman had lost the previous bout via triangle-choke.
Ryo Chonan took on Karo Parysian in a welterweight bout, which didnt get a good crowd reaction, but was an exciting fight in my eyes. Chonen did well stuffing Karo's Judo throws, but was unable to surmount enough of an offense to take out Parysian. Karo looked on form and controlled where the fight went throughout.
My man Houston Alexander got knocked out!!!! Say it aint so Houston!! Alexander came out a little more tentative than usual, clinching with the beast that is Thiago Silva. The begining of the end was when Silve got alexander to his back and quickly mounted the Nebraskan powerhouse. From the mount Thiago peppered him with shots, eventually landing a one two that put Alexander in and out of consciousness. Light Heavyweights lookout Thiago is coming!!
The main event was a fight between two well rounded, well matched individuals. Living in Michigan you know I had to go for the Spartan Rashad Evans, and he didnt dissapoint. The fight went all three rounds, and The takedowns and crisp striking of rashad was the difference. Bisping put up a hell of a fight though, and he can rest easy knowing he put his all in and redeemed himself for his last performance.
