It was what the Gracie family built their legacy upon, technique overcoming opponents with superior size and strength advantages. At UFC 81 we saw the evolution of jiu jitsu in the heavyweight division of the sports biggest platform.
Big Nog Grabs Gold!
In a memorable battle that ended with a slick transition from an armbar to a guillotine choke, Noguiera became the first in history to hold Pride and UFC gold. A class act is Big Nog who deserves his spot at the top as one of the best heavyweights to ever grace the sport. In his win it sets up an intriguing bout of the jiu jitsu aces in Nog Vs. Mir, a bout which I would love to see come to fruition, although the UFC may opt for the more marketable rematch between Mir and Tim Sylvia.
Mir Vs. Lesnar
Brock Lesnar is a beast!!! We already knew that before the bout, but damn he was handing frank's ass to him on a platter before Mir submitted the less experienced Lesnar 90 seconds into the first. After coming out the victor Mir's face looked as if he had been in a 3 round war with just 90 seconds of fight time. Given more experience and training, especially in jiu jitsu, lesnar really could be "the next big thing!" Facing someone with less of a jiu jitsu pedigree thank Mir's lesnar would have smashed them.
Tim Boetsch Vs. David Heath
Tim threw David heath around like a rag doll in what was one of the most entertaining bouts of the night. Boetsch had crisp strikes including an effective strait front kick which landed repeatedly, and viscous Chute Box style knees in the clinch. Here is a GIF of the mayhem:

Ricardo Almeida Vs. Rob Yundt
Almedia gave Yundt a rude welcome into the UFC with what could be described as a summersalt guillotine choke. Almedia took Yunt to the ground quickly and while his opponent scrambled to get up Ricardo sunk in a tight guillotine forcing Yundt to tap.
Chris Lytle Vs. Kyle Bradley
Lights out Lytle lived up to his moniker in this barn burner of a one sided slugfest. Bradley had no chance to mount an offense against Lytle, Chris came out swinging for the fences and hit one out of the park.
