Boxers will tell you that breaking their hands is part of the game that they have to live with, but an infection is quite unique. A boxers worse enemy can be his own hands and in the middleweight champs case this is true. Most fighters have many hand injuries, Most are just simple breaks but some need surgery, an infection can be much worse and can cause long delays in recovery. The long awaited dream match up between Middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik and 3 division contender Paul Williams which was originally scheduled for October 3rd will be pushed back to November or even December. This is bad news and disappointing for the fighters, the promoters but most importantly the fans. This fight is such a good match up that it is going to take much more then infected fingers, or broken hands to stop this fight. Hopefully Pavlik will heal up well and quick and we can see this fight before the years end.
