Seldom has one seen such a robust and well groomed mustache in life, let alone in the combat sports world. The Frye-stache has graced some of the biggest stages in MMA including PrideFC and the UFC. Toiling in MMA obscurity the last few years in small promotions has worn thin on the legend as he has finally officially called it quits on the fight world. You may have noticed Frye in such films as Public Enemies, on television in the comedy It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and most recently in an AT&T ad campaign. Frye cites his troubles with MMA promoters and lack of respect for fighters as his primary reasons for leaving stating that:
“I’m pretty much quitting MMA. I’ve had enough of the (expletive). I’m done with it,” announced Frye. “The competitive urges still flow through me, but I’m tired of the (expletive) of the promoters.
“The fight game isn’t a respectful profession any more,” he stated. “They’ve made a mockery out of it by letting Jose Canseco fight, and now Hershel Walker, and all these other jackasses in their 40’s who have never fought. It is a shame that someone of Don Frye's stature would get the shaft from these dirt-bag promoters and MMA leaches, but the bullshit antics in the fight game aren't beyond anyone. The good thing however is that we won't be completely removed from Frye's antics as he plans on amping up his acting game so we should see more of him than ever on the big and little screen. Below is some of Frye's shining moments:
