2009 has been a good year for the flyweights with a few memorable match ups that have possibly set up some for 2010. Remember the great fight between bitter rivals Koki Kameda and former top of the division Daisuke Natio? That was a good match up you had the young, flashy, and cocky Koki Kameda beating the man who beat his brother to win a title. Most thought that the veteran Natio would have beaten the young Kameda. To end the year on the 31st you have The Ring's number 3 rated flyweight Denkaosan Kaovichit facing the number 6 rated Takefumi Sakata. Historically there have been many match ups between fighters from Thailand and Japan, Wonjongkan vs Naito, Sakata vs Kaovichit. Thursdays match up will be good to watch and the winner of that fight will put themselves in great position for a bigger fight. Kameda is rumored to be fighting Wonjongkan, so the winner of Thursday fight could get a shot at either one of them. Either way I enjoy watching the 112 pound guys because it is all action and the pace is just crazy.
