Juan Manuel Lopez took the WBO strap away from Steve Luevano and it only took him 6 rounds to do it. Juan was the crisper puncher landing the harder more effective blows in between Luevano's punches. Luevano threw his jab but he was hesitant to throw his power punches and didn't do the job. Luevano looked like he was trying to set up a trap, or just catch Lopez with one punch, and that idea wasn't that effective at all. Lopez was doing what he had to do to win the belt, he took the fight to Luevano. He only had one knock down in the fight and it was a hard one in the 7Th he didn't recover from. The knockdown was set up by an upper cut that staggered Luevano to the ropes where Lopez finished him with a flurry. The referee would not let Luevano continue because of the violent nature of the knock down. He fell in the corner of the ring and his head was propped up by the ring post. The referee finally called a halt to the fight at :44 seconds of the sixth round. He will be a tough opponent for Gamboa and it will be a boxing fans dream to watch.
