PORTER WINS AGAINST TOUGH OPPONENT

Shawn Porter W 10 Russell Jordan Unanimous decision SCORES: 97-92, 97-92, 100-89

Shawn Porter was fighting in front of a home town crowd tonight and was able to win a unanimous decision. Porter wanted to get a knock out in front of his fans but that can be a lot of pressure for a young fighter. I think it was more of a style issue that caused Porter problems, we all know styles make fights. He was fighting a guy that had 10 more pro fights under his belt than he had. Russell Jordan is a tall lanky southpaw and that can be trouble for any orthodox fighter. Jordan kept a good distance and was able to neutralize some of Porters speed in the early goings. He even hurt and almost knocked down the young prospect in the third round. Even though the fight went the distance and Porter didn't look that good , remember he still won. The fight was only tarnished by Eugene Glens score card because he didn't give Jordan the respect he deserved, giving him no rounds. Referee Randy Jarvis also took a point for no good reason from Jordan for spitting out his mouthpiece witch came out inadvertently not on purpose. He will build and learn from this tough fight. Young fighters need to be in tough fights early on in their careers so they can learn and get better. I still think that he has a bright future and will still make a name for him self in boxing.
