SHAWN PORTER THE FUTURE?

This week on ESPN2's Friday Night Fights we get to see the fast rising future champion Shawn Porter. Shawn Porter is quick, fast, powerful, explosive, and that is a deadly combination in the ring. More importantly Shawn Porter is what boxing fans want to see. He is only 22 years old and has a bright future in front of him in the sport of boxing. He was an alternate on the 2008 Olympic boxing team, and should have had a spot. He also trained at the Wild Card Gym to help Manny Pacquiao get ready for Miguel Cotto. His home town is Akron Ohio and he is managed and trained by his father Kenny Porter. Porter has proven to have power in the professional ranks by knocking out 10 of his 12 opponents. Any time you have an undefeated prospect you always want to know if he is really good, and this kid is good. Forget that he was a sparring partner with Manny Paquiao, he doesn't think like a sparring partner. He was at Wild Card to help Manny but he was also in there to get some work himself. He said that sparring with Manny was fun and anyone who says that is scary. This Friday the man he will be fighting is Russell Jordan and it will be in Ohio, his backyard. If he continues to progress as quickly as he has he will be a household name very soon.
