Pongsaklek Wonjongkam W 12 Koki Kameda SCORES: 114-114, 115-112, 116-112
The 112 pound flyweight division has a lot of talent and the top two dueled it out last night in Japan. The young and brash Kameda couldn't back up his trash talk as he lost a majority decision to the number 2 flyweight in the world Pongsaklek Wonjongkam. Kameda lost his new WBC belt he just won from Diasuke Naito, and in the process also got his first loss a s a pro. It was a good fight but Kameda was being beat to the punch almost all night. He seemed hesitant to mix it up with the little man from Thailand, as he looked to counter punch him instead of lead. The clash of heads that happened in the fifth hurt Kameda more than Wonjongkam, because it opened a horrible cut over his right eye. I'm sure we will see a rematch between these two fighters because Wonjongkam is no stranger to the idea of a rematch. He has fought Daisuke Naito the number 3 flyweight in the world 4 times, with a 2-1-1 record against him. The flyweight division is always fun to watch and draws huge ratings in Japan, and through out Asia. When the number 1 of any division fights the number 2 of that same division and the Ring Magazine championship belt is vacant they crown a champ. So congratulations to Pongsaklek Wonjongkam the new Ring Magazine flyweight champion of the world.
