"Rampage" and Rashad Finally Make it Official

The UFC today announced that they will indeed have Quinton Jackson and Rashad Evans face off at UFC 114 on May 9th in Las Vegas. The heated rivalry will headline the card that is also rumoured to have another Light-heavyweight showdown between Forrest Griffin and  Antonio Rogerio Nogeuira. Jackson and Evans, as you all know, have had a healthy disrespect and hatred for one another ever since there meeting after Rampage's win over teammate Keith Jardine.

Both fighters want to finish the contest dramatically with a highlight reel knockout and the satisfaction of beating their nemesis. Jackson has about twice as many fights as Rashad and better boxing to go along with that experience, but Rashad has the better wrestling pedigree. That is not to say that Quinton doesn't have the strength and wrestling to compete with Evans in that area either, Jackson started out as a wrestler after all. As you can probably tell, I am favoring Rampage for this fight. However we still have not seen what kind of effect that the layoff has had on Jackson who has been in Hollywood-land for a while now. Kevin Iole even reported that he saw Page smoking cigarettes at UFC 110 in Sydney Australia. For old-school Rampage fans there is no other choice than to root for him in this fight that has been delayed far too long. Since the pair coached opposite each other on the ultimate fighter, it has been verbal sparring non-stop between the two, so it is about time they finally get down to brass tacks. One can only hope that the Slam-Page will make an unexpected return to the ring along with Quinton on May 9th.
