The Axis of Evil: Three Promoters Fight Sports Would Be Better Off Without

Don King:

Anyone and everyone who has done business with the frilly haired fight promoter has ended up on bad terms with King or in court because of his crooked thieving ways. The list could probably go on for days but some of his victims include: Mike Tyson, Juan Diaz, Nate Campbell, Ricardo Mayorga, and you get the picture I'm sure. From keeping money from fighters to keeping them from fighting period as was the case in the nixed Mayorga-Thomas fight, King can't seem to keep his flag waiving hands off of anything good to come from his one time business partners. The most recent news is that the K9 Bundrage-Cory Spinks fight has yet again been postponed for who knows what. King has always shielded his champions from fights to keep them wearing their shiny straps for as long as possible.

Dana White:

Yeah, Yeah, Dana has done this and that for the sport...... What he hasn't done for the fighters who make the sport is give them their fair share of the cheddar. Paying fighters peanuts compared to other combat sports athletes keeps Dana on this list. No cuts of DVD sales or any cut of the hugely successful "UFC Undisputed" video game series gets DW no love. Yes, he has run the company well and puts on a good show, excuse me the best show in MMA, but it is the best because of the fighters not him. The fact that some of the best fighters in the world refuse to work with the UFC because of Dana's brash attitude and trash talk in the media, FEDOR!, puts him right up there with our next contestant for keeping fights from happening that people want to see.

Bob Arum:

From Floyd Mayweather to Evel Knievel, there aren't a whole lot of folks that are happy with Arum. The massive outpouring of interest in a Manny-Mayweather match up doesn't peak his interest in the least compared to a fight with two fighters from his promotional stable to keep the money in-house. Arum may not have the kind of track record that King does, but he is not far behind either. MMA fans came to know the type of person Arum is when he commented to Ariel Helwani that MMA fans are "Tattooed skinheads" and likened MMA contests to homosexual intercourse. Cheers Bob, the sports world is truly worse off with you in it.

Next installment: M-1 Global & put down the sausage Gary Shaw, I'm looking at you.
