Bellator XXII: Ben Askren "The Ultimate Wrestler"

Ben Askren will never be known for his stand-up prowess, but he can beast on opponents in the wrestling game. Dan Hornbuckle was to be Askren's biggest test to date but got taken to school on the ground for three rounds by Askren. The crowd was completely pro-Askren in the KC-MO who cheered every take-down and strike from the frilly haired one.

Askren is not going to wow non-hometown crowds with his blanketing style, but he is starting to be busier while holding position on the ground. Hornbuckle was unable to do much aside from a few submission attempts, and was worse for the wear after the three round wrestling match. If Askren can continue to improve his ground and pound as well as work some more Jiu Jitsu, he will be a force at 170lbs, he may be even if he doesn't improve in other areas because of his sick wrestling game.
