Miguel Cotto TKO 9 Yuri Foreman TIME: 0:42
Many people thought Yuri's lateral movement, and foot work would be too much for Cotto. They were wrong, Cotto easily caught up with Foreman. Cotto controlled the fight with his jab from the very first round. He dictated the pace with his jab to keep Yuri off balance. That kept Yuri out of rhythm, and out of his comfort zone. When a fighter is coming off such a one sided loss you don't want him in there with a power-puncher. Yuri Foreman had a ton of heart, but that is about it. He couldn't adjust to the Steward-Cotto game plan. You could tell that he has been training with Emanuel Steward. He gets his fighters to uses their strengths. For Cotto it is using his jab and hooks to the body. Look at what he turned Wladimir Klitschko into, an unbeatable monster. He did that by just getting him to learn the basic idea of fighting his size. I'm not saying that Cotto will be unstoppable, but if he stays with Manny and can get his confidence back he will be a problem. It is hard to gauge his performance because Foreman is no Pacquiao. His chin wasn't tested, and he didn't really have to fight in that match. All I know is Cotto got a much needed win, and he now holds a belt at 154. He will get now that he holds a belt again he will get plenty of challenges.
