IVAN CALDERON WINS AGAIN

Ivan Calderon W 12 Jesus Iribe SCORES: 116-111, 118-109, 118-109

Despite surviving a second round flash-knockdown, and being the smaller man Ivan was again victorious. This win runs his record to an impressive 33-0-1, with only 9 knockouts. The knockdown in the second round didn't really hurt the Iron Boy, but it was scored correct. The 108 lb Jr. Flyweight champion is a tireless worker, and constant professional. Most fighters panic after a knockdown, and throw their game plans out the window, not Ivan. He went out in the third round, and calmly went back to his game plan. With the name Iron Boy you would expect him to have some pop in his gloves, but he doesn't. He doesn't need any power, because of his great footwork, and boxing skill. Many casual fans need a KO, and can over look such a light puncher. When you see Ivan Calderon fight you can see why they call it "The Sweet Science". In most fights he is the smaller man, but his skill level evens the playing field. I would like him to either unify the titles by fighting IBF champ Carlos Tamara, WBC champ Rodel Mayol, or WBA title holder Giovani Segura. The first and the third being the most attractive. He already has a No contest, and a Draw WBC champ Mayol. Tamara is coming off a big win over Brain Viloria, and a loss in late May. Giovanni Segura is the Ring's number 2 rated Jr. flyweight, so the winner of that would be the ring champion. If he can't get any of those fights he should move up to flyweight which is a stacked division.
