JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ JR. IN THE BIGGEST FIGHT OF HIS LIFE

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (41-0-1, 30 KO) VS. John Duddy (29-1, 18 KO)

You would think that after 42 professional you would have been tested many times. When you bare the name of and, are the son of a Mexican-Boxing legend you better be good. For this reason alone he has been brought along slower then the most protected of fighters. No disrespect to the 41 men that Jr. has faced in the ring, but they are not the toughest of competition. I'm sure it is not easy to make a name for your self when you are Julio's son. I'm still nervous when my Popps comes to see me perform, just imagine how it would be for Jr. However everyone has to grow up and be their own man. This could be fight that Jr. needs to prove to everyone who he is. John Duddy is no super-star, or unstoppable force, but he is the toughest Chavez has faced. I'm not as harsh as some are on the young Mexican, or have crowned this prince king either. Anyone can criticize a fighter, or say some is going to be good. I don't think Julio even has to win this fight against Duddy to get the respect I'm sure he wants. If he can make it a good fight, show some heart, and brawl a bit he will get his respect. I'm not saying winning isn't important, or it wont matter at all if he gets his first loss. It doesn't matter what your record is, or how many people you beat if they are nobodies. Mexican, and American fight fans respect guts, and heart. It can't be given to you, and you can't buy any of that in a store, it has to be earned. Chavez Sr. wasn't the prettiest fighter, he was tough and fought everybody. Even if Richard Steele would have called that fight right, and Taylor would have won a decision people would still have respected, and loved Julio. Because he showed heart, blood, and guts. This is what Jr. must do against John Duddy. When he is faced with adversity he can't just back off he has to fight. In my opinion I think Jr. can win, but he will have to leave it all in the ring.

Duddy has fought tougher competition, then his Mexican counterpart. He beat Yurri Boy Campas, Howard Eastman, and Anthony Bonsante. Chavez Jr. must realize he is going to be going to war, I mean he is fighting and Irishmen. If he wins there will be bigger fights for him out there. Most people don't see the significance in this fight, but I do. He is young, so he can improve if he keeps stepping up in class. He is training with Freddie Roach for this fight, and that is big. We could see some of his influence s in this fight but it usually takes a few fights with a new trainer to really see there effect. I hope he takes this challenge and runs with it, in the right direction that is. This is just the next step in his boxing career.
