The reason I'm writing about Salvador is because when I was watching Danny Lopez get elected I couldn't help remembering Chavo. Salvador Sanchez was a great champion who tragically died in a car accident at the tender age of 23. On August 12Th it will be 28 years since his death. His record had a great record (41-1-1, 32 KO). He beat many great boxers, and Hall of fame inductees. Including this years recent addition Danny "Little Red" Lopez. He defeated future hall of fame inductee Azuma Nelson in his last fight. He had it all Great boxing ability, power, speed, counter-punching ability, and most importantly heart. He could out box you or knock you out depending on how you fought him. If you tried to outlast him he would out last you, remember these were 15 round championship fights. If you tried to just attack him he would pick you apart and knock you out. He said he wanted to retire in a year with dreams of becoming a doctor. He was determined enough and he could have done it. I don't think he would have retired because most fighters have that fire in there hearts forever. I can remember when I was a young boy reading about him The Ring Magazine. He was truly a great champion and will remain so forever. I only wonder what he could have done if he would have not died so young.
