Daiki Kameda keeps his WBA Flyweight title

Daiki Kameda W 12 Takefumi Sakata SCORES: 118-110, 116-112, 117-112

Daiki Kameda retained his WBA Flyweight title with a close but unanimous decision. The scores were 118-110, 116-112, and 117-112 all for Kameda. Even though Kameda won by a large margin on the score cards, it was still a hard fought victory. Takefumi Sakata was Ring Magazine's #5 rated Flyweight. Daiki was able to hurt Sakata a few times through out the 12 round fight. Kameda won the WBA crown from Denkaosan Kaovichit after losing to him in their first meeting. This win against Takefumi Sakata marks his first defense of his title. The fight wasn't the most technical, or pretty of fights but it was still a fight. Kameda tried to take control with big punches through out, while his traditional counterpart used a more traditional style. Kameda spoke with respect of his challenger after the fight saying about Sakata, "He never shrunk and kept fighting bravely until the end. I'm very happy to defend the title against such an opponent". The Japanese people have a love hate relationship with the Kameda family. They play the villains with their bad boy images. Japan has a culture of tradition and respect, so Koki and Daiki often clash with Japanese values. Weather you are rooting for or against Daiki you will still watch. This has proved to be the case as they garner a ton of viewers each time out. How can you hate a young fighter that sings to the crowd after he wins?
