Shark Fights 13 Results: Card Of The Year Based On Commentators Alone

Anytime you hear Don Frye compare the fights to prison sex or hear him comment on how big his balls are, you know you're in for a night of hilarity coming from the booth. Don Frye is a man's man, and he may be slightly insane as well. Bas looked thoroughly entertained yet slightly uncomfortable by some of the outlandish comments coming from "The Predator".

Now onto the fights.

Tarec Saffiedine vs. Brock Larson

Larson did not look good against Saffiedine. He could not get the takedown due to Tarec's supreme TD defense and shots that he landed on Brok's dome. For the first two rounds Tarec peppered Larson with shots and avoided the takedown. In the third Tarec punished Larson with strikes and wobbled him. When Larson come in for a takedown, he was reversed and Tarec punished him there for the remainder of the fight.

Saffiedine Def. Larson Via Unanimous Decision ( 30-27, 30-27, 30-27 )

Joey Villasenor vs. Danillo Villefort

Don Frye starts the fight out right by talking about throwing the old lady a beatin. Villefort took it to Villasenor in the first on the mat, as he threatened with submissions and held onto dominant position. In the second Villasenor was able to land a bit, but Villefort landed some of his own before taking Joey back down. From there it was all Villefort. In the third it was VIllasenor who initiates the clinch and gets the takedown. From the guard Joey wasn't able to do anything and was reversed by Danillo who finished out the round on top.

Villefort Def. Villasenor via Unanimous Decision ( 30-27, 30-27, 30-27 )

Paul Daley vs. Jorge Masvidal

This is a fight that people were expecting fireworks and the first two rounds did not live up to the billing. The first round was mainly stand up but not much action to speak of, while the second round Masvidal scored several take-downs and won the round on the mat. The third was much of the same until the last minute of the fight when Daley decided to start fighting aggressively like he should have the entire fight. The fight was close but the last round where Daley rallied and put a stamp on the victory in the eyes of the judges anyways.

Daley Def via Unanimous Decision ( 29-28, 29-28 )

Houston Alexander vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou

Alexander comes back from the brink of defeat to KO Soku. The referee stopped the fight painfully late and Soku looks worse for the wear. Houston was rocked so hard in the first and was almost finished. As Soku always does, he gassed out after hitting Houston with everything he had. Alexander was fighting on instinct alone and when he reversed Soku on the ground he landed two illegal head-butts that he was not deducted points for. The best part of the fight? Bas singing the 7 dwarfs theme during the late stoppage replay.

Alexander Def. Sokoudjou Via TKO RD 2

Keith Jardine vs. Trevor Prangley

Jardine tried to initiate the takedown in the first and ate a vicious knee from Prangley for his troubles. Once the fight hit the mat it was Prangly in top control. Jardine tried to pull out a submission or two, but it was mainly Prangley's world as he pounded on Jardine.

Round 2 was uneventful until the last two minutes where Prangley dropped Jardine with a right. Jardine tried to steal the round with a takedown and landed a punch after he was unable to bring him to the mat.

Jardine rallied at the end of round three and traded punches with Prangley but it was not enough to steal the W. Jardine now drops five straight and his dreams of getting back to the UFC have hit a bump in the road.

Prangley Def. Jardine via Split Decision ( 29-29, 28-29, 29-28 )

Overall Shark Fights 13 was an entertaining night of fights, but more than that it was a hilarious night of commentating by Bas and Don Frye.
