THE NIGERIAN IS STILL A NIGHTMARE

Samuel Peter TKO 2 Nagy Aguilera TIME: 2:24

The trouble started for Aguilera when he signed to fight this Nigerian beast, and that was evident from the bell. Peter landed a nice crisp right hand that sent Aguilera down in a heap in the second round. The end came only when Referee Laurence Cole Stepped in to stop any further damage from Peter. Peter swarmed the hurt fighter as to not let him off the hook, remember this is the hurt business. The end came quickly after the knock down when Referee Laurence Cole Stepped in to stop any further damage from Peter. I'm sure he didn't know what happened to him because he looked real dazed, and tipsy, when it was over. I'm sure the people at Top Rank were ecstatic after Peters dominant win. Since loosing 2 consecutive fights to Vitali Klitschko, and Eddie Chambers, Sam Peter has won 4 straight fights by knockout. Yes, they have been against inferior competition but he has kept busy, and that is important. It only took Peter a combined 11 rounds to dispatch, the 4 men he faced. Peter has limited boxing ability, and the further he climbs up the heavyweight ladder he will continue to have problems. The one true gift he has is raw knockout power, and that is great to have as a heavyweight. When I first saw the Nigerian, he kind of reminded me of a rawer version of Ike Ibeabuchi. Ibeabuchi would have for sure been the heavyweight champion if he wouldn't have went to prison. There is nothing worse then wasted talent, I guess that is what makes me sick with Sam Peter. This is a sport you can't start late in and unfortunately it is probably a little too late for the Nigerian. I think that Peter should have gotten a better trainer in his corner, that could have truly taught him how to box a little better. He should have got with a trainer that has a track record of making fighters better, and taking heavyweights to the top. Power can only take you so far in the sport of boxing, he has to truly learn the "sweet science" in order to reign as a true champion. Last nights fight with Nagy Aguilera was an IBF Title Eliminator bout. The man who owns that title is Wladimir Klitschko, who has already beat Peter before. On top of that Klitschko's boxing calender is filled up for the foreseeable future with, Eddie Chambers, Alexander Povetkin, and possibly David Haye. Peter will be 3RD or possibly 4TH in line after the fighters mentioned before. He has said "Povetkin or Klitschko, I'm ready," Peter said. "Povetkin has been the mandatory forever. He and Klitschko need to fight or he needs to get out of my way." If Peter wants a rematch, and title shot against the man who beat him he must stay busy. If he can keep winning he will take care of his end of the business, and make himself a mandatory challenger. Right now he is not even ranked in the Ring's heavyweight top 10, but with a little work he can be. I wouldn't even pick him to beat any of the champions other then Haye, but I would give him a punchers chance. He definitely has a hell of a puncher's chance, probably more so then anyone in the heavyweight division.

LATIN FURY 12 IN NEW YORK: JUANMA AND GAMBOA LOOK TO IMPRESS

Latin Fury is a perfect name for tonight's PPV, especially when you have Juan Manuel Lopez and Yuriorkis Gamboa on the same card. With a total of 41 fights between them and 37 ending in knockout you can clearly see they fight with hell's fury. I have to give it to Bob Arum, he has two young exciting fighters who instead of protecting he is lining them up for a climactic showdown. Juan Manuel Lopez (26-0, 24 KOs) is going up against Rogers Mtagwa (26-12-2, 18 KOs) and Yuriorkis Gamboa (15-0, 13 KOs) is matched against Whyber Garcia (22-6-0, 15KOs). They no doubt will be scouting each other for when they step in the squared circle together. The Latin Fury cards are always exciting and a lot of fun and tonight should be no different. The two future superstars can't wait to get in the ring with each other and do battle and we can't wait either. This match up should be good for boxing and its fans alike. The only person standing in the way of this fight is Celestino Caballero (33-2-0, 23 KOs) . He is the best Jr. Featherweight in the world and has been calling for a shot at Lopez for some time. He is very good freakishly tall for 122 and has a reach advantage on Lopez. So no wonder why Arum wants Lopez to jump to Featherweight and fight Gamboa first. Caballero has been calling Lopez out and is rumored to be going tonight to personally challenge Lopez. If Juanma wants to be a superstar he has to fight everyone at 122 before he goes to 126 like a true champ. I think they will all end up fighting each other in the future but the question is when. Tonight should be fun, exciting and action packed and should give us some barometer of when they will all fight.

What to watch Saturday?

Showtime is showing you 2 of the "super six" tournament fighters young Andre Ward and Mikkel Kessler who will be matched up against each other in the tournament on November 21. Ward takes on Shelby Pudwill in a 10 round super middleweight in Temecula, California and Kessler will defend his WBA super middleweight belt against contender Gusmyr Perdomo on the other side of the world in Herning, Denmark. This is a good way to compare the to fighters if you haven't seen them before so you know what style you will like on November 21st. Kessler "the Viking Warrior" already wins in the nickname department. Also on Saturday you have old-school legend James "lights out" Toney stepping back into the ring against Matt Greer, who he should destroy with ease. This guy is my all time favorite fighter and I have seen him live many times and every televised bout he was ever in. I hope he can return to glory for one last push for a worldtitle shot. You also have two PPV cards one brought to you by Top Rank and one brought to you by Integrated Sports. The Integrated Sports card profiles the rematch between Ivan "Iron Boy' Calderon and Rodel Mayol. In their last meeting in June the fight was called a technical draw because Calderon was unable to continue because of an accidental headbutt he sustained in the 4th round of that fight. Now we will see who will really win this fight hopefully it will be fought in the ring and not stopped by the referee. Top Rank brings you once again the son of a legend Julio Cesar Chaves Jr., he will be fighting Jason LeHoullier. On the same card you also get to see Fernando Montiel put his WBO bantamweight title on the line against Alex Valdez. Also that night you can see Jose Luis Castillo, Cruz Carvajal, Donnie Nietes, and Brandon Rios step in to the ring and fight it out. On the same night in Monterrey, Mexico you have Christian Mijares challenging for the WBA interim bantamweight title against Nehomar Cermeno. So as you can see there is plenty of action packed boxing to watch this Saturday so you know I wont be leaving my house or answering the phone.
