I'm not ready to dismiss Houston as a flash in the pan, but lets look at his fights thus far in the UFC.
Jardine
Jardine came in with no respect for Alexander, and got the shit knocked out of him for it. Had Jardine came out with his serious face on like he did against Liddell the result may very well have been different. On the other hand Houston showed resilience after getting rocked by Jardine and came back to just maul Jardine into the ground.
Sakara
This dude was a pro boxer, but he may very well have a glass chin. He doesn't have the greatest record with the UFC. On the flipside, this dude hits hard! We saw it against Leben in his last fight, and if Chris didn't have a rock for a head the dude would still be on queer street. So Houston can obviously handle some tough guys at LHW.
Thiago Silva
This guy is a beast and I cant fault anyone for losing to him. I have no doubts that he is one of the LHW Elite. Of course he exposed a hole in Houston's amrour that was glaringy big, his ground game. Houston is a good wrestler, and if he has been training Jiu Jitsu as hard as weve been told, who knows we could see him submitting folks in the future.
James Irvin
Irvin pulled some slick shit at UFN just like he did with Terry Martin, he faked the knee this time and followed with a right cross directly after the touch of gloves. This guy hits hard, and when healthy has the ability to do some damage at 205.
As a fan, I hope we see Houston rise to the top like everyone on the hype train originally envisioned. But, until I see more from him, I wont be surprised if he falls off even harder.
