(Will the Forehead or the Beard Prevail?)
For Kimbo Slice fans it must be disheartening to hear the talk coming from Kimbo in the press leading up to his 215lb catch-weight bout with slugger Houston Alexander. On a conference call he was quoted as saying that he is not feeling well and very moody because of the weight cut, a first for Slice, to 215lbs. When asked about his training at highly regarded camp American Top Team Kimbo said something to the effect of "It's been OK I guess." Not words you want to hear from the most famous street fighter of this era going in to a must-win type of fight. Slice has better technical boxing ability than Alexander, no doubt about it, but Houston has a vicious clinch game and brute wrestling ability to go along with it. Slice on the other hand has not progressed in other facets of his game as some would have hoped, he is still going to fight like he always has, and unless he has truly honed his wrestling and take-down defense while at ATT the way to beat him will always be to take him to the mat. Luckily for Kimbo, Houston Alexander looks as much like a turtle on his back as Slice does while on his. I don't think were going to see any flying arm bars or gogopalatas in this fight folks. What Kimbo has to do is keep the fight standing and avoid the clinch with Houston. If he does that Slice should have the edge in the Boxing and put "The Assassin" to sleep. For Houston the key will be to utilize leg kicks, said clinch game, and his wrestling to overwhelm Slice and get the TKO victory. Most fans have dismissed these two guys at this point because of their high profile losses and one dimensional games, but the fact of the matter is this fight will be entertaining and at the end of the day what more can you ask for.
