Versus Ups Its MMA Game: WEC Fighters Could Reap The Benefits

Versus announced recently announced an extension to its agreement with Zuffa LLC to continue carrying the WEC. With the new agreement the WEC will run seven live WEC cards in addition to two live UFC cards on the network along with the normal WEC Wreckage shows. With the announcement that the UFC live events, previously exclusive to Spike TV, will air in addition to the WEC cards it could bring some new eyes to the network and the WEC. That is good news for the lighter weight fighters with the WEC who are struggling for recognition and better paydays than the WEC can currently offer them. A main event fighter who may be in the top-ten pound for pound will currently only receive the pay of a marginal fighter of a higher weight class whos name is attached to a UFC card rather than the WEC. With phenoms like Miguel Angel Torres and the explosive Jose Aldo on the roster these guys deserve the pay their larger counterparts are receiving.
