Hermes Franca Says Goodbye To MMA Competition



Farewell goes out to the veteran Hermes Franca as he calls a halt to professional mixed martial arts competition after a loss to Eric Wisely at a MaxFights event in Des Moines, Iowa. Franca was always a competitive fight for anyone he faced in the cage. He has wins over some of the game's elite such as Jamie Varner, Mike Brown, Nate Diaz, and Caol Uno to name a few. Hermes cites his body's inability to keep up with the physical demands of the sport at an elite level after years of competing against some of the best fighters. Franca plans on focusing on his school and training other fighters to keep him busy as well as spending some much needed time with his family. Hermes had this to say about his retirement:





"The fans gave me the passion and strength that kept me competing at the championship levels for all these years. Without them, I couldn’t have done it. I owe it all to the fans"
