WEC 46 Results: Benson Henderson Taps Varner To Unify Lightweight Titles
After a slow start in their Lightweight Title fight Benson Henderson tapped out Varner with a Guillotine choke in the third round in 2:41. Ben Henderson is now the undisputed WEC Champ after the victory and potentially sets up a rematch with Donald Cerrone. Varner was as classy in defeat as he is in victory as he said post-fight that he came to fight and Ben Henderson wanted to kick and grapple and he wanted to box. "I came to fight, he came to grapple, two different things" Although Henderson could have been more aggressive in his attack he clearly did what he had to do to win the fight. Varner, a perennial crowd favorite, continues to woo the fans with his in and out of the ring antics and comments as he will go down as one of the most beloved Champions to grace the cage /sarcasm.
