JOHNSON SHOWS US AGE IS JUST A NUMBER

Glen Johnson TKO 6 Yusaf Mack TIME: 2:21

The Road Warrior stayed true to form as he ran right through Yusaf Mack in an IBF light heavyweight title eliminator on ESPN2 last night. This was a very competitive fight for the 6 rounds that it lasted. Yusaf Mack has had trouble with physically strong fighters in losses to Librado Andrade and Alejandro Berrio. Knowing that you knew it was going to be an uphill battle against the rough and rugged Johnson. The fourth round was wildly entertaining with many toe to toe exchanges. Johnson kept coming forward with his constant pressure and in the 5Th Mack began to show signs of trouble. Mack was able to land some solid punches on the older Johnson but was unable to hurt his opponent. In the 6Th round Johnson knocked down Mack with a right hand and followed it up with 2 more. After the third knockdown the referee jumped in to stop the fight to save Mack any further damage. Although Johnson showed some age in his last fight and last night he still looked good and will be a stern test for the IBF champ Tavoris Cloud. This is what boxing is all about not the record but how hard you fight each time out. At the age of 41 with 17 years in the fight game Johnson has truly found the fountain of youth.
