UFC Fight Night Results: Gomi Tapped By Florian

Ross Pearson is The Real Deal.....For Real!
Dennis Siver has been wowing crowds with his signature spinning-back kick and was able to land it against the rugged Brit once or twice this evening. Aside from that gem that Pearson nonchalantly shrugged off, Siver was steadily out-struck by Pearson for three rounds. Siver remained competitive throughout the contest but was handily outpointed by Pearson who picked up the UD.

Rivera Rocks Quarry
Jorge Rivera looked determined to stop Nate Quarry in their Middleweight fight, and he did just that. Rivera landed right hand after right hand bloodying Quarry in the first round. The Second round didn't last long as Rivera continued his fistic firefight and put a stamp on a shiny new TKO victory. Rivera was very emotional in his post fight interview and rightfully so as he is still grieving the loss of his daughter.

Tibau Smashes Uno
Goldberg's words prove prophetic no matter how flawed his logic was in saying "one punch KO power has got to go to Tibau based on physical stature alone" nice one Goldy. Uno was blasted by heavy hands from Gleison Tibau until the stoppage which left him disoriented and unable to stand on his own. Uno is a legend and one of the greats but with losing performances in his last two fights in the UFC he may well be on his way out of the promotion.

Struve Gets Big Country'd
Roy Nelson took out the Skyscraper Stafan Struve with a big overhand right and some ground and pound to ice the cupcake. Nelson gets the big KO win in one. In the post-fight Nelson half jokingly called out James Toney after the win, but in reality wants a title contender for his next opponent. Maybe he knows something about Toney that we dont however, as Goldberg and Rogan had a laugh when Goldy said "now thats lights out". Little clue for the fans? We will see.

MMA's Ben Stiller Chokes Out Gomi

Kenny Florian dispatched of another potential title challenger as he dispatched of Takanori Gomi in his US debut. The UFC and many fans were hoping to see Gomi advance and give Penn an interesting challenge, but Florian had other plans. Gomi tried for power shots from the beginning as he swung and missed, Florian scored at will with an incessant jab that kept Gomi out of rhythm. The second round was much of the same and pretty uneventful. The third round saw Kenflo take Gomi to the ground and almost sink in an arm triangel before he took Gomi's back and snatched the RNC for the tap. Florian looked good, but he still has some other fights before anyone believes that he deserves another shot at the Champ. On a side not, will someone put a muzzle on Kenny's brother during his next fight?
