ALVAREZ VS BALDOMIR: "TIGERS LOVE PEPPER THEY HATE CANELO"

Saul Alvarez (33-0-1, 25 KO) vs. Carlos Baldomir (45-12-6, 14 KO)

This will be another chance for the American boxing public to see Canelo the Mexican phenom. Alvarez at the tender age of 20 is already ranked in the Ring's Jr. Middleweights at number 10. He hasn't taken any easy fights to pad his record. Saul seems to be stepping up in competition each time out. He has been fighting about every two months, which is good for a young fighter. He has already knocked out Jose Cotto, Brain Camechis, and Luciano Cuello. He is from Mexico and it seems like kids get their gloves on before they can walk down there. The reason he is so compelling to watch is because he human. He gets knockouts, shows great poise and has the heart of a champion. In his fight against Jose Cotto he was badly hurt but fought back to score a 9Th round TKO. I think if he can progress as he has he can be a great champion. He will be facing tough veteran Carlos Baldomir. Many will remember him because of his onesided drubbing he took from Money Mayweather. He took Zab Judah's WBC welterweight strap in an upset victory in 2006. He also has a win over the great Arturo Gatti (R.I.P.). Baldomir has also lost to some greats including Vernon Forest (R.I.P.). I think this is the perfect opponent for Canelo to show his great offensive skills against. He is slow, plotting, and he comes straight forward. If Saul can handle the pressure, which he will he will do fine. This is a great card for Alvarez to be on, and it should gain him many more American fans. The September 18Th, Staples Center card includes Shane Mosley, Sergio Mora, Vivian Harris, and Victor Ortiz. It will be a perfect spot to shine, and if he can knock out the hardened veteran he will turn many heads.
