UFC Results: "Lebron" Jones Smashes Vladdy, Gomi is Back!

(Stay Classy San Diego!)
Jon Jones is well on his way in his progression towards Mixed Martial Arts superstardom.
Jones faced off against former IFL Champ and grizzled veteran Vladimir Matyushenko tonight amongst much hype and fanfare but lived up to his billing as the next big thing. Jones ended the fight via TKO in under 2:00 minutes as he had Vladdy in the crucifix position and landed heavy elbows on "The Janitor's" dome. Dana White says that he is going to be matched up with some of the best in the division now that he mopped the floor with the janitor (Easy now Pun). That is exciting news for fans of the Phenom from Upstate NY with throws, elbows, and kicks like no other. He won't be getting an immediate title shot per the words of Dana White, but that is a good thing so that Mr. Bones isn't rushed into contention and stifled in his come up due to a rushed title shot as we have seen before.

The Fireball Kid flame throws Tyson Griffin's chin for a swift KO victory in Cali.
Gomi had a rough start to his UFC career as he drew perennial contender and MMA nerd Kenny Florian for his first taste of American cage fighting.  Gomi didn't look himself in his debut and lost the D to Kenflo. Always up for a good scrap, Tyson Griffin met Gomi in the center of the eight sided cage to trade leather with the Japanese lightweight which in hindsight didn't work out to well for the X-Couture fighter. Gomi connected to Griffin's chin with lighting quick accuracy and sent Mr. Fat Booty to the canvas for a swift nap. Griffin tried to compose himself and get his wits about him, but was to stunned for the ref to let it continue. Tough break for Griffin who makes it two in a row in the "L" section, but he will bounce back.
