In an interview on Strikeforce Challengers Gilbert "El Nino" Melendez stated that he wants to take advantage of the co-promotional agreement between Dream and Strikeforce to bring home the Dream lightweight title. Melendez is coming off of fight of the year contender against former Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Josh Thompson. When asked if the fans were going to see a third meeting between the two Cali residents Melendez stated that it is something that has to happen again. A meeting with Shinya Aoki and Melendez is a match up that I, and many fans, would love to see as he sets foot inside the ring for the first time on US soil.
